About me

Travel adventure #1: Hey! I’m Jess. My husband, Phil, and I quit our jobs in Southern California and moved to Northern Spain in 2021. Amid a global pandemic that caused us to reevaluate what we want out of this precious life, we decided to use our savings and take a year or so of mid-career retirement. We aim to live deeply, and deliberately, and to suck the marrow out of life (to paraphrase Thoreau). Read more about what brought me to Spain here

Travel adventure #2: After returning to the U.S. after 500 days of living in Europe, Phil and I immediately started saving for another period of long-term travel. We spent three years living near my in-laws in North Carolina and left for our second adventure in February of 2026. This time, we don’t have a home base, but will be traveling throughout Asia. Following along as we explore!
