Phil and I live in centro de la ciudad (city center) in Gijon. We couldn’t be happier with the location. It’s just a few minutes walk to everything we need; supermarkets, fruteria, panaderia. We live on Calle Corrida (Corrida Street), which is in the shopping district and the most popular street for retail shopping. The street is pedestrian only and quite wide. I have had several folks ask for photos from our neighborhood, so I have included some below with captions for additional information. I hope you enjoy them!

My panaderia (bread shop). Panris has several locations throughout Asturias. Their Pan de Leon is my standard order. Crusty on the outside and soft, fluffy perfection inside 
Mercado Del Sur has been operating since 1899. It’s similar to a large farmer’s market with vendor stalls. SuperCor, a large supermercado is located in the basement of the building as well. It’s truly a one stop shop. 
I don’t know the name of this building (but I think it’s super cool!) but it is close to our apartment and we pass by here often 
Iglesia de San Lorenzo. This church is located in Plaza de Italia, which we pass through and/or sit in often 
The paseo maritimo (beachfront walk way) in front of Playa San Lorenzo 
This is actually a view from the Cimadevilla neighborhood, about a 10 minute walk from our place. We enjoy walking here after dinner. This photo was taken at 10:03 p.m. The sun sets here so late. It’s really nice.

It is very clean. There are sanitation workers cleaning and sweeping all the time. Gijon has extremely low crime rates as well.
